L to R: Symposium program; John and Coleen presenting; John and Coleen post-program
John and Coleen Graybill had the honor of being asked to speak about the Descendants Project in Seattle on November 17, 2018
The Seattle Public Library has hosted a plethora of events this year celebrating the 150th anniversary of Edward Curtis’ birth. This Symposium, a part of Beyond the Frame: To Be Native, was a variety of speakers on many different topics surrounding the Curtis legacy. Lectures were heard on the importance and history of his work, a comparison of his work to other photographers in his era, art aspects and even a lecture about work he did in Hollywood in the 1920s. It was such an interesting day and the Graybills were proud to be a part of it.
A big bonus to the day was that John was asked by the library to do an exhibit of the Descendants Project when they are ready. Also while there, they met two more Descendants!
